Amey, a leading provider of full life-cycle engineering, operations, and decarbonisation solutions for transport infrastructure and complex facilities, is offering a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Assistant Engineer to join our Consulting Highways team. We welcome applications from Engineers across England.

As an Assistant Engineer, you will support a team within the Pavement and Asset Management Practice to deliver schemes such as pavement condition assessments and renewal projects, ensuring safety and durability of roads.

Responsibilities Include
  • Assist in producing technically sound engineering solutions in compliance with standards and client requirements.
  • Help prepare designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation for schemes.
  • Prepare reports, drawings, and specifications for pavement projects.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on maintenance and rehabilitation plans.
  • Evaluate pavement materials and construction techniques, review survey results.
  • Support sustainable, cost-effective pavement solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical input.
  • Prioritize health and safety within the team.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Knowledge of pavement design principles and materials.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Previous pavement engineering experience is a plus.
