Job description

Hours: Full Time

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

Description of Job

Background: Farnham Vineyard is a growing church on a journey to become increasingly intercultural. We are looking to employ someone that loves Jesus and loves people. This is a full-time role created to help us embrace and continue to grow as a church, suitable for someone with a calling to leadership. The ideal candidate will have the skills to effectively lead both services and teams of volunteers, a passion and vision for youth discipleship, and an ability to communicate clearly both in person and via social media. You’ll also have the desire to learn and grow in wider leadership opportunities.

Job Purpose:

Leadership: This new role has been created to help us embrace the recent church growth we have experienced and to help us continue to grow as a church. We are looking for someone to join our staff team who loves to worship Jesus, has experience in leading meetings in the power of the Holy Spirit, and has clear communication skills, both verbal and written.

Youth: We are looking for someone who can share our passion and vision for discipling young people, someone that has experience of working with youth (11-18yrs), and someone that can sow life and inspiration into this generation. We require someone that can initiate cross-church connections and facilitate collaboration with secondary schools work in the area.

Ministry Development: Compassion ministry and serving those that don’t yet belong to the church is important to us; we really want to be a church that disrupts loneliness in Farnham. The successful candidate will be responsible for launching and overseeing a compassion ministry. Recruiting and organizing a team of volunteers will be crucial to the success of this, as will the ability to minister to people with love and grace.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a core part of the FV staff team including:
  • Leading/ministering alongside other staff and voluntary leaders at Sunday services, including specifically the Sunday evening service.
  • Be an active part of the FV pastoral team, engaging with the congregation (specifically youth & the parents of youth), attending staff meetings, etc.
  • Oversee and manage a compassion ministry to serve the community, for example, building a weekly lunchtime ministry for those in our community that are in need of friendship.
  • Lead our growing youth ministry including:
  • Taking responsibility for a weekly Friday night youth group that is accessible to unchurched youth, including recruiting and overseeing a team to deliver.
  • Creating or using a curriculum for 3 Sunday mornings a month, age-appropriate for youth sessions, working with a team of volunteers to deliver discipleship.
  • Creating a regular, weekly session for discipleship of older youth (years 10+).
  • Build collaboration with local churches, schools, and community groups including leading assemblies and supporting CUs at local schools.
  • Connecting with the wider Vineyard movement and engaging with local and national Vineyard youth initiatives such as DTI and DTI Nano.

Dimension: This is a full-time, 35 hr pw staff position at Farnham Vineyard. The staff Sabbath day is a Monday; Sundays are considered a working day. The salary is £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience (plus pension), with 25 days holiday and a three-month notice period. Mileage will be paid at 44p per mile for the first 100 miles per trip (not to and from the usual place of work) and 25p per mile thereafter. 6-month probation.

We expect all of our staff team to engage with the life of the church, attending a weekly small group of your choosing and joining in with some of the monthly services you are not leading to be part of the church family, to be seen, known, and supported.

Farnham Vineyard is a growing, intercultural church in the beautiful town of Farnham, Surrey.
