Overview

Job Description: We are seeking a motivated individual to join our RD - Reading site's Operations team based in Reading, PA. The ideal candidate for the Assistant Operator possesses a high degree of ownership and accountability in order to ensure incoming materials are properly washed while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Unloading, packaging, documenting and storing all finished goods.
• Monitoring, packaging and storing by-products for the entire system.
• Loading and maintaining chemicals on the wash line.
• Loading and maintaining chemicals on the wastewater treatment system.
• Completing required production and inventory control reports.
• Reporting all necessary maintenance repair items and safety concerns to the Shift Manager.
• Housekeeping within the wash line and wastewater treatment area.
• Checking and maintaining the performance of all material handling equipment and auxiliary equipment with the Wash Line Operator, e.g., forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
• Following all Wash Line Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Following all applicable company and plant Quality, Safety, and Housekeeping rules (See Requirements).
• Related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• High school education or equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) years in a manufacturing environment as a machine operator, assistant operator or helper.
• Strong mechanical background.
• Ability to operate computerized equipment required.
• Ability to complete production, process and inventory reports.
• Physical requirements: walking/standing approximately 95% of the time; lifting up to 50 lbs; repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 25% of the time; climbing up to 15% of the time.
• Good communication skills.
• Good organizational skills; detail oriented and capable of handling multiple tasks.
• Forklift license required.
• Must be able to work and perform in a team environment.
• Must have a positive attitude and take direction from the Shift Manager.
• Must be hands-on and a good listener.
