About The Role
We are looking for a proactive and organised
Assistant Operations Manager to support the Assistant Director in overseeing a portfolio of social housing reactive repair, planned works and void refurbishment contracts.
In this role, youll work closely with multiple Contract Leads, providing day-to-day operational support, helping to monitor performance, and ensuring consistency in service delivery across all contracts. Youll be the go-to person for coordination, reporting, and issue resolution keeping the Assistant Director informed while helping Contract Leads achieve their targets.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in social housing reactive repair, planned works and void refurbishment who wants to take the next step into a support role with real influence and variety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Assistant Director in managing the performance of multiple workstream social housing contracts.
- Support Contract Leads with operational queries, KPI tracking, and service delivery improvements.
- Help coordinate resources, contractors, and in-house teams to ensure timely completion of works.
- Monitor and report on contract performance, identifying areas for improvement.
- Act as an escalation point for Contract Leads, helping to resolve issues quickly.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies.
- Prepare reports, briefings, and data analysis for senior leadership meetings.
- Assist with contractor onboarding, relationship management, and performance monitoring.
- Promote consistency in working practices and customer service standards across all contracts.
About You
- Experience in a social housing, council, or housing association environment (social housing reactive repair, planned works and void refurbishment experience preferred).
- Strong organisational skills and ability to coordinate multiple contracts at once.
- Good communication skills, able to build relationships with managers, contractors, and residents.
- Proactive problem solver who can work under pressure and to deadlines.
- IT literate, with experience using Microsoft Office and housing/FM management systems.
- Knowledge of compliance and health & safety in a maintenance environment desirable.
- IOSH Managing Safely or similar qualification advantageous but not essential.
