About the role
We are seeking an Assistant Merchandise Planner to join our Central team. This role involves supporting topline budgeting, forecasting, trading, and exit activities. You will also manage specific regional and channel complexities within our Clothing business under the guidance of a Merchandise Planning Manager.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with product merchandising, operations, trade planning, channel, technology, and business intelligence teams to ensure success.
You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting (and deputising for) the Merchandise Planning Manager with country budgets and periodic financial reviews.
  • Assisting with the bottom-up WSSI forecast review process, including analysis for periodic meetings.
  • Providing weekly trade commentary and analysis for leadership and wider business teams.
  • Identifying risks and opportunities within weekly trade, focusing on key country and channel specifics.
  • Delivering analysis and insights for commercial teams through various reviews.
  • Supporting trade plan reviews, including markdown and promotional costing, to maximize profit.
  • Managing the Clothing country's daily sales forecasts with insights and commentary.
  • Collaborating with tools, systems, and BI teams to simplify processes.
  • Assisting with trade planning calendars, promotional activities, and business workplans.
  • Managing financial processes such as half-year and year-end close, in partnership with product teams.
  • Acting as a super user for all relevant systems.
  • Analyzing market trends, competitor activities, and external factors to inform the team.
Requirements
• Proven track record of delivering accurate and timely work.
• Experience in retail, customer-focused, or commercial roles.
• Strong communication and influencing skills.
• Background in merchandising.
• Merchandise administration experience is beneficial.
