Overview

Arthur are pleased to partner with a leading global insurer to hire an Assistant Marine Underwriter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with intermediaries and customers, handling straightforward cases end-to-end to deliver agreed business development plans aligned with company strategy.
  • Make effective on-site underwriting decisions within delegated authority to ensure timely and efficient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Cargo & Freight Underwriting Manager, Operations Manager, and wider team to build strong intermediary relationships, balancing their needs with business goals to drive sustainable growth.
  • Plan and organise personal workload to manage tasks effectively and meet team objectives.
  • Contribute ideas to enhance processes, systems, and overall team performance.
  • Take ownership of customer enquiries and allocated correspondence, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Identify and pursue business opportunities, engaging colleagues as appropriate.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for allocated intermediaries/customers, escalating complex issues when necessary to ensure excellent service.
  • Promote open communication and collaboration across all business lines and functions.
  • Support conduct standards that deliver the best outcomes for customers and policyholders.
  • Understand and follow escalation pathways and governance responsibilities relating to conduct risk.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong internal collaboration skills, working effectively with colleagues across underwriting, claims, sales, and leadership teams.
