Job description

Are you passionate about safe patient handling and supporting best practices in clinical settings? We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our dedicated team as a Band 5 Assistant Manual Handling Advisor.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient handling and clinical care, and be eager to develop skills in other areas of moving and handling. You will support and advise colleagues in non-clinical areas, working alongside our Manual Handling Advisors to promote safe moving and handling practices across the organisation. Your responsibilities will include training, assessments, and hands-on guidance.

The Manual Handling Team provides a broad range of support and advice to clinicians handling patients with complex needs, aiming to prevent work-related musculoskeletal conditions. The post holder must liaise confidently with a wide range of healthcare professionals and deliver Moving and Handling training in both classroom and clinical environments. The role involves working across multiple sites, so the ability to travel is essential.

  • Assist in delivering manual handling training sessions for clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Support risk assessments and audits related to patient handling.
  • Provide on-the-spot advice and coaching in clinical areas.
  • Contribute to the development and review of manual handling policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote safety and continuous improvement.
