In your new role

This role offers an opportunity to join a dedicated, trauma-informed team, working directly with young people with complex needs related to their life experiences and childhood adversity.

Make a positive impact on young people's outcomes! To succeed, you will:

1. Work positively, respectfully, and empoweringly with young people to promote good relationships and achievements.
2. Collaborate with a team to address the social, emotional, educational, and mental health needs of young people.
3. Encourage participation of young people in domestic tasks to develop self-care skills.
4. Contribute to care plans, write review reports, and risk assessments.
5. Coordinate with parents and partner agencies to ensure the best interests of the young people are maintained.

Requirements

You will need:

1. Knowledge of children’s behaviors and intervention strategies.
2. Understanding of legislation related to child care, including National Care Standards, Children (Scotland) Act 1989, and GIRFEC.
3. Familiarity with residential child care policies and procedures.
4. Understanding of child development principles.
5. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection principles.
6. Teamwork principles.
7. SVQ 4/SQF 9 in Social Services (Children and Young People) and HNC in Social Care, or equivalent, or working towards these qualifications.
