Job Description:

The KPMG financial services tax team is a fast-growing part of the KPMG tax practice. We are looking for excellent candidates who are seeking a dynamic and challenging working environment within a strong supportive leadership team.

As a result of growth in our business, we have a number of roles across our Financial Services Operational Taxes team, which has a diverse client base spanning the FS sector - providing services to banks, custodians, brokers, asset managers, alternative investors, wealth and hedge asset managers, and global institutional investors such as pension funds and sovereign wealth funds.

For the right candidates, there are huge opportunities to be part of an expanding business and to progress quickly as the team grows. The work is interesting and diverse, involving cutting-edge developments and collaboration with some of the best-known FS firms, as well as mid-size and new market entrants, supporting their growth.

The team is diverse and collaborative, with members based across London, Manchester, Bristol, and Edinburgh. We embrace hybrid and flexible working. Our team has a mix of backgrounds, including professional services, tax, legal, accounting, regulatory, and industry experience, providing practical insights to help clients. We support and train our staff to thrive at KPMG.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work across our FS and Asset Management tax teams or to specialize in operational taxes. We welcome informal discussions to explore opportunities in more detail.

The Responsibilities:

The role involves compliance and advisory responsibilities, including:

  • Developing and maintaining technical knowledge in operational taxes and related areas.
  • Supporting client relationship and project management, acting as a focal point for clients within operational taxes.
  • Understanding clients' businesses and collaborating across KPMG to identify service opportunities.
  • Developing and advising on innovative client propositions.
  • Participating in business development and proposals.
  • Collaborating with teams across the UK and globally to deliver high-quality operational tax support.
  • Developing new client propositions, working with technology teams to create solutions, and ensuring high service quality.
  • Advocating for KPMG and helping grow the business through high-quality service delivery.

The Person:

The ideal candidates are likely to have:

  • Deep technical expertise in tax or financial services, demonstrated through qualifications or practical experience.
  • Practical experience with operational taxes in a financial services context, from industry or professional services backgrounds.
  • An understanding of financial markets, participants, investors, and products.
  • Knowledge of at least one: Withholding Tax, Transaction Tax, Information Reporting (FATCA, CRS/AEOI), Qualified Intermediary, or International Tax principles.
  • Strong project management, delegation, coaching, and client-facing skills.
  • Enthusiasm for emerging technologies and their integration with evolving tax regulations.
  • Ability to leverage new tax developments to create client propositions.
  • Enthusiasm, passion, resilience, and a continuous learning mindset.
