Job Description:

The KPMG financial services tax team is a fast-growing part of the KPMG tax practice. We are looking for excellent candidates who are seeking a dynamic and challenging working environment within a strong supportive leadership team.

As a result of growth in our business, we have roles across our Financial Services Operational Taxes team, which serves a diverse client base including banks, custodians, brokers, asset managers, alternative investors, wealth and hedge asset managers, and global institutional investors like pension funds and sovereign wealth funds.

For the right candidates, there are significant opportunities to grow quickly within an expanding business. The work is diverse and engaging, involving cutting-edge developments and collaboration with prominent FS firms, mid-size, and new market entrants.

Our team is diverse and collaborative, with members based across London, Manchester, Bristol, and Edinburgh. We embrace hybrid and flexible working. Our team includes professionals from various backgrounds, including professional services, tax, legal, accounting, regulatory, and industry experience. We support our staff with training and development to thrive at KPMG.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work across our FS and Asset Management tax teams or to specialize in operational taxes. We welcome informal discussions to explore opportunities in more detail.

The Responsibilities:

The role involves both compliance and advisory duties, including:

  • Developing and maintaining technical expertise in operational taxes and related areas.
  • Supporting client relationship management and project delivery, acting as a point of contact for operational taxes clients.
  • Understanding clients’ businesses and collaborating across KPMG to identify service opportunities.
  • Developing and advising on innovative client propositions.
  • Participating in business development and proposals.
  • Collaborating with teams across the UK and globally to provide high-quality operational tax support.
  • Contributing to the development of new client propositions, including working with technology teams to create solutions and delivery models.
  • Advocating for KPMG and helping grow the operational taxes business through delivering high-quality services.
The Person:

The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following skills:

  • Deep technical knowledge related to tax or financial services, supported by relevant qualifications or practical industry experience.
  • Experience with operational taxes in a financial services context, either industry or professional services.
  • Understanding of financial markets, participants, investors, and products.
  • Knowledge of at least one area: Withholding Tax, Transaction Tax, Information Reporting (FATCA, CRS/AEOI), Qualified Intermediary, or International Tax principles.
  • Strong project management, delegation, coaching, and client-facing skills.
  • Enthusiasm for emerging technologies and integrating this knowledge with evolving tax regulations.
  • Ability to leverage new tax developments to create client propositions.
  • Passion, resilience, enthusiasm, and a commitment to continuous learning.
