Assistant Manager - Power and Utilities Finance WACC

Base Location: Our base location consists of London CSQ. Our other offices nationally are:

KPMG's Infrastructure Group in the UK consists of approximately 400 professionals and is recognized as a leading independent adviser in infrastructure.

We provide advice on strategic, financial, regulatory, and commercial issues in infrastructure investments across Transport, Power & Utilities, and Social Infrastructure in the UK and globally. Our work includes market and policy design, economic and regulatory analysis, deal structuring, and strategic advice to facilitate funding of infrastructure projects.

Our Infrastructure Advisory Team focuses on the utilities sector, working with major UK energy and water companies and other large utilities across Europe. We offer strategic and technical advice on corporate finance, regulation, business planning, cost assessment, and valuation, influencing the future of the utilities sector.

We are expanding and seek high-quality candidates to support our Power & Utilities business, especially in financial and economic analysis, including cost of capital estimation, financeability assessments, risk analysis, financial modeling, investment appraisal, and valuation.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Develop understanding of regulatory finance issues, including setting the cost of capital and assessing financeability, and how regulatory mechanisms impact financing;
  • Develop market intelligence and sector knowledge;
  • Implement WACC and CAPM analysis, developing and maintaining financial models to assess cost of equity, debt, and WACC within regulatory guidelines;
  • Contribute to project delivery and support business development initiatives;
  • Specify, produce, and evaluate financial models;
  • Manage project planning, delivery, and closure, maintaining knowledge of regulatory frameworks and financial implications in water and energy sectors.
What you'll need
  • Strong knowledge of economic and financial theory and its application;
  • Experience in quantitative economic and financial analysis, including econometrics and statistics;
  • Practical experience with WACC and CAPM, especially in regulatory or infrastructure contexts;
  • Understanding of corporate finance, risk-return trade-offs, capital structure, and asset pricing;
  • Familiarity with credit spreads, yield curves, and debt structures;
  • Awareness of how credit ratings and market conditions influence WACC;
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
  • Proficiency in tools like Stata or R, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with Bloomberg, LSEG Workspace, Capital IQ;
  • Experience in the utilities sector and relevant academic qualifications.
