Job summary

Southern Hospice Group is seeking a dedicated shop assistant to support the Retail Shop Manager in Peacehaven. The role focuses on delivering excellent customer service, promoting donated and new goods, and maximizing income for the hospices across Sussex.

You will work closely with volunteers, assist with recruitment and training, and help ensure the shop maintains a high standard to drive community engagement and funding for patient care.

Qualifications

• Proven customer service experience required.
• Experience coordinating volunteers and rotas preferred.
• Ability to promote sales and maximise income.
• Knowledge of Gift Aid procedures preferred.

Job Summary

About the role

Toassistthe Retail Shop Manager to manage and co-ordinate the day-to-day activities of the shop ensuring excellent customer service and maximising overall profit. Toassistin enhancing the profile of the hospices in the community by good customer relations. To independently stand in for the Shop Manager in their absence.

Essential criteria

• Maximisethe contribution for the shop through sales from all donated and new goods
• Ensure the shop delivershigh standardsof customer service
• Capture Gift Aid at every opportunity to maximise income
• Assistthe manager with sales promotions, stock generationactivitiesand income from new goods
• Encourage a safe environment that embracesnew ideasand originality
• Help the manager keep the shop lookingit’svery bestto deliver maximum income to the hospices
• Encourage the work of volunteers and co-ordinate the volunteers work and rotas
• Assist the Manager in recruitment, induction, training, and development of volunteers
