Bristol Adult Resource Center (BARC) is a private, non-profit organization supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are currently seeking an Assistant Manager to support our DSO day program. The ideal candidate requires a background and passion in supporting those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
- At least two years working with adults with developmental disabilities .
- Management experience is a nice to have.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to obtain PPE driving license.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the manager in overseeing daily operations of the program, meeting all company and state of CT policies and regulations.
- Assist in overseeing staff and scheduling for adequate coverage.
- Provide opportunities for learning new skills and independence by working on individuals’ goals and plans.
- Provide direct care as needed.
- Participate in various meetings, programmatic and business meetings as requested.
- Provide safe and nurturing environment where Individuals are treated with dignity and respect, can exercise their rights and responsibilities and are protected from abuse or neglect.
- Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in person and online).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work cooperatively with all BARC employees, individuals served, families, supervisors, and other providers or professionals.
- Willing and able to complete all essential responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of computers.
Physical Efforts:
- May include extended periods of standing, sitting, walking with occasional periods of stooping, crouching, kneeling.
- Positions may require the ability to independently lift at least 25 pounds, push/pull varying weight (wheelchairs) or have to safely transfer ~35 pounds.
