Job summary

The Wheatpieces, a Hungry Horse pub in Walton Cardiff near Tewkesbury, is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead busy shifts and create a welcoming, lively atmosphere. Work with the General Manager to run the pub day-to-day, mentor the team, uphold service and brand standards, and drive sales.

What's the opportunity?

As Assistant Manager, you'll work closely with the General Manager to help lead the pub and make sure everything runs smoothly.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Lead from the front, setting the standard for great customer service and a positive team culture.
• Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the pub and take the lead in their absence.
• Bring the Hungry Horse brand to life by creating fun, welcoming experiences for every customer.
• Coach, motivate and develop your team, helping them to grow and reach their potential.
• Take ownership of your shifts, making quick decisions and keeping things running smoothly when it gets busy.
• Help maintain high standards across service, safety, cleanliness and brand standards.
• Build strong relationships with both your team and customers.
• Get involved in driving the success of the pub, from delivering great service to supporting sales and performance.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who loves hospitality, enjoys leading people and is ready to take the next step in their career.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience in a supervisory, team leader or management role within hospitality.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to get the best out of your team.
• The confidence to take ownership and make decisions during a busy shift.
• A positive, hands-on approach and the ability to lead by example.
• High standards and an eye for detail, particularly around customer service, safety and brand standards.
• The ability to stay calm, organised and adaptable when things get busy.
• Sufficient spoken and written English to perform the role safely and understand allergen controls.
