Job description

The Role

We are seeking an experienced senior supervisor/assistant manager to lead our small team and oversee daily store operations, enabling the founder to focus on business development. The ideal candidate will align with TGM’s customer service standards and welcoming atmosphere. With prior experience managing or assisting in managing a specialty coffee shop, you will be confident to lead the team and manage all aspects of the business, fostering a proud and growing workplace. Additionally, this role includes a multi-functional component, occasionally involving kitchen baking and food prep duties.

Day-to-day duties will include:

  1. Assisting in store, team, and customer management;
  2. Serving customers and ensuring high service standards;
  3. Opening and closing the store;
  4. Operating & programming the POS system;
  5. Ordering, stock management, stocktaking, and supplier relations;
  6. Team management, including recruitment and scheduling;
  7. Training and developing team skills in a fun, engaging manner;
  8. Maintaining health & safety policies in line with HACCP;
  9. Daily, weekly, and monthly store maintenance and cleaning;
  10. Fostering a positive, fun, and productive working environment.

The ideal candidate is proactive, a problem solver, and hands-on. You possess a warm, outgoing personality with a positive attitude, comfortable managing a small team, and collaborating with the founder and kitchen staff. You take pride in working for a small, independent business with growth opportunities.

We seek a motivated team member passionate about hospitality, with excellent attention to detail in food and drink preparation and service, and the ability to manage workflow efficiently.

Essential qualities include:

  • Natural leadership with small team management experience and a passion for hospitality;
  • Friendly, welcoming demeanor with a positive, hardworking attitude and excellent customer service skills;
  • Strong attention to detail, both administratively and in daily store setup;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Logical, calm problem-solving abilities;
  • Knowledge of health & safety legislation, allergens, and relevant procedures;
  • Hands-on approach, willing to engage in all aspects of the business;
  • First-class coffee skills and ability to train others;
  • Understanding of P&L in hospitality;
  • Responsibility-taking in daily operations;
  • Good humor and team spirit;
  • Computer literacy, especially email and Excel;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and eligibility to work in the UK.

The following would be advantageous:

  • Previous food prep experience;
  • Food safety and hygiene training;
  • First aid certification.
