Overview

Make a Difference in Crawley: Join DEBRA as Assistant Shop Manager. DEBRA, the charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by the rare and painful skin condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), is looking for a dedicated Assistant Shop Manager to join our team in Crawley. This permanent, part-time position offers a chance to make a real difference in a dynamic, hands-on environment.

What You Will Be Doing: A Blend of Hands-On Management and Team Support

This is a dynamic role that requires both manual dexterity and strong interpersonal skills. You will work closely with the Shop Manager, playing a crucial role in the daily success of the shop. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Hands-on Processing and Presentation: Sorting, lifting, carrying, and pricing donated items (clothing, books, homeware), and creating visually appealing window and in-store displays.
  • Exceptional Customer Engagement: Providing a warm, welcoming shopping experience and building positive relationships with customers.
  • Maintaining Shop Standards: Keeping the shop floor clean, tidy, and well-organised, with light physical tasks as needed.
  • Stock Management with Physical Involvement: Receiving, moving, and organising donations within storage areas.
  • Volunteer Support and Guidance: Recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers to foster a positive, collaborative environment.
  • Financial Transactions and Security: Handling transactions accurately and ensuring the security of the shop premises.

  • Strong teamwork and clear communication to collaborate with the Shop Manager, colleagues, and volunteers.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to managing tasks and using your initiative.
  • Comfort and capability to handle the physical aspects of the role, including lifting and moving stock, arranging displays, and general shop maintenance.
