Job summary

Butler Rose is partnering with a well-established SME in the Preston South Ribble area to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant on a permanent basis. The role offers a clear path to the Financial Controller position with one-to-one training and development support.

You will work in a small, close-knit finance team handling management accounting, payroll, cash flow, balance sheet work, stock reporting and month-end processes. Hybrid working with progression opportunities is available.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified with ACCA or CIMA or working towards
• Experience with Sage 50 or similar accounting software
• Experience in a similar role within a small finance team
• Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Maintain the Sage 50 general ledger across the business, ensuring records are accurate
• Assist with monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, payroll journals, fixed assets, stock and month-end postings
• Prepare supplier reconciliations and support month-end reporting and balance sheet reconciliations
• Manage accounts payable from invoice entry to payment, maintaining supplier relationships
• Support outsourced payroll processes by preparing and submitting payroll data
• Monitor daily cash flow, assist with bank reconciliations and working capital controls
