Assistant Management Accountant - Maternity Cover

The Role

We are currently seeking a detail-focused and proactive Assistant Management Accountant to join our site finance team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. Supporting the Plant Lead, Finance, this role is integral in delivering strong financial control through monthly reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and continuous improvement reporting.

The Ideal Candidate

You'll be a reliable and well-organised finance professional with a strong understanding of financial processes and a collaborative mindset.

Essential:

  • Experience in period-end accounting, including accruals and prepayments
  • Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
  • Proficiency in Excel and confidence working with data
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to explain financial information clearly and concisely
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Team player with a flexible and proactive approach
Desirable:
  • Part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or FMCG finance environment

Your Key Responsibilities

The Role

As Assistant Management Accountant, you will:
  • Support month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, purchase order reallocations, reconciliations, trial balance review, and preparation of overhead, capex, and utilities reports
  • Produce timely and accurate financial reporting, including weekly updates on stock, raw material and PPE spend, and labour reconciliation (internal and third party)
  • Maintain strong financial controls through balance sheet reconciliations and cash flow forecasting for capex
  • Conduct data accuracy checks on stock production dates and assist with yield reporting cover during absences
  • Partner with Central Finance and the Centre of Excellence to drive down parked invoices and DMS cases
  • Prepare the Plant Finance CI reporting pack and respond to audit queries as required
  • Provide cross-functional finance support across the site as needed
