Job description

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with a dynamic and supportive organisation to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant into their Financial Reporting team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is keen to progress their career within a values-driven business. The role is initially offered on a 6-month fixed-term contract, with remote working available and occasional visits to one of their regional offices.

You’ll play a key role in the month-end process, helping to produce accurate and insightful financial reporting while partnering across the organisation to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Management Accountant will include:

  • Assisting in the production of monthly management and annual statutory accounts.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
  • Preparing and posting journals, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Performing detailed balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Partnering with internal stakeholders to support financial planning and reporting.
  • Interpreting and presenting complex financial data in a clear and concise way.

What we’re looking for:
  • AAT Level 4 qualified or currently studying towards CIMA / ACCA / ACA.
  • Experience working in a finance function with exposure to management accounting.
  • Excellent Excel skills (including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas).
  • Strong analytical mindset with the confidence to question and improve processes.
  • Effective communicator who can build relationships across finance and non-finance teams.
