Job summary

RG Consultancy invites applications for an Assistant Management Accountant in Wilmslow to support the Finance Manager in day-to-day running of the finance function. The role covers management accounts, month-end, budgeting and variance analysis.

You will assist with payroll, VAT, year-end audits and financial reporting, while maintaining strong financial controls and exploring process improvements.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification or studying toward AAT is preferred.
• Experience in an assistant management accountant or junior accounting role.
• Strong IT skills with SAP and Excel; familiarity with AI systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting.
• Support month-end processes: journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and budgeting/forecasting.

RG Consultancy are currently working with a fantastic growing SME in Wilmslow who are looking to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant to join their small finance team. You will support the Finance Manager in the day-to-day running of the finance function, playing a key role in maintaining accurate financial information and supporting the wider business

Role Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting
• Support month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Provide financial analysis and management information to support business decisions
• Manage the in-house monthly payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and monitoring
• Support purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control activities
• Assist with VAT returns and other statutory reporting
• Support year-end accounts and the annual audit process
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure strong financial controls
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and efficiencies
• Provide ad-hoc financial support and analysis as required

Person Specification

• AAT qualified, studying CIMA/ACCA would be an advantage for this role
• Previous work experience within an assistant management accountant or junior management accountant role
• Strong IT skills including SAP, MS Excel. Experience using or implantation of new AI systems would be an advantage
• Experience working within an IT/technology business would be an advantage
