Job summary

ACCA Careers is assisting a well established manufacturing business in Wakefield to recruit an early-career finance professional. You will join a stable finance team of 6 and support the Finance Director with accurate financial information, controls and day-to-day accounting.

You will receive hands-on training from the Finance Director and wider team, with future progression to Finance Manager/Company Accountant. 30–35k with study support and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Recent experience of working in finance.
• Likely studying an accounting qualification.
• Manufacturing experience is preferred but not essential.
• Positive attitude towards learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly management accounts, reporting packs, and financial analysis.
• Prepare journals, bank reconciliations, and support balance sheet reconciliations and month/year-end processes.
• Support annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and business planning through analysis.
• Assist non-finance stakeholders in understanding accounts.
• Assist with stock accounting, stock counts, and inventory accuracy.
• Manage end-to-end purchase ledger: invoices, supplier reconciliations, payments, variances.
• Prepare supplier payment forecasts and maintain supplier relationships.
• Provide finance support across the business, including ERP system assistance.
• Contribute to process improvements and ensure confidentiality and compliance.

Our client is a well established, growing and successful manufacturing business based in Wakefield.

Description

You will be working as part of a stable finance team of 6. As part of the role, you will be supporting the Finance Director with the provision of accurate financial information, maintenance of financial controls, and day-to-day accounting activities. Once you have received all the necessary training, you will:

• Assist with the production of monthly management accounts, reporting packs, and financial analysis.
• Prepare journals, bank reconciliations, and support balance sheet reconciliations and month/year-end processes.
• Support annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and business planning through financial analysis and reporting.
• Supporting non-finance stakehodlers with understanding the accounts.
• Assist with stock accounting activities, including stock counts, inventory accuracy, petty cash, and company credit card reconciliations
• Manage the end-to-end purchase ledger, including invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, payment runs, and variance investigations
• Prepare supplier payment forecasts and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Provide finance support across the business, including ERP system assistance, query resolution, and cross-functional cover.
• Contribute to process improvements, maintain confidentiality and compliance standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance team.

Profile

• Will have recent experience of working in finance
• Will ideally be studying an accounting qualification
• Will ideally have experience of working in manufacturing, but this is not essential
• Will have a positive attitude towards learning and professional development.

Job Offer

• £30,000 to £35,000, dependent on the level of experience.
• Future salary increases based upon AAT, CIMA or ACCA exams passed
• Full study support for AAT, CIMA or ACCA (financial support and 2 days off work per exam)
