Job description

Are you an experienced Assistant Management Accountant ready to take the next step, or a qualified-by-experience finance professional looking to develop your management accounting skills in a busy, well-established company?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly finance team of five, working closely with the Financial Controller and Finance Director in a successful, growing business (c. £20m turnover across group).

You'll get involved in a wide range of accounting activities, supporting the production of management accounts, forecasts, and reports while enjoying the autonomy to “crack on” and make an impact. No people management required, just a great opportunity to deepen your experience and progress your career.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, forecasts, and budgets
• Assist with financial reporting and analysis for internal stakeholders
• Contribute to cash flow forecasting, cost tracking, and performance metrics
• Support VAT, PAYE, CIS, and other statutory submissions
• Help maintain accurate ledgers, reconciliations, and internal controls
• Liaise with external auditors and ensure compliance with audit requirements
• Work with the Financial Controller on system improvements (Sage 200, Sage Payroll, Pegasus CIS)
• Provide support to wider finance processes and ad-hoc reporting

What we're looking for

• AAT qualified (Level 4) or qualified by experience
• Strong understanding of core accounting principles
• Confident Excel user, comfortable analysing data and preparing reports
• Good communication skills and a proactive, “hands-on” approach
• Able to work independently and meet deadlines
• Experience within construction, manufacturing, or project-based businesses is a bonus
