Job summary

SP Electricity North West invites applications for an Assistant Management Accountant to support timely management accounting information across the ED2 period. The role covers core month-end activities, balance sheet reconciliations and oversight of key financial processes while contributing to the wider finance function.

The successful candidate will develop junior team members, work in an agile environment after probation, and will need to be a part-qualified accountant with strong Excel and

• Part-qualified accountant or suitably experienced, ideally in a fast-paced management accounts environment.
• Analytical capability to interpret variances, identify trends and reconcile data between systems.
• Proven record of delivering process improvements and controlling reporting processes.
• Month-end delivery experience and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Advanced Excel skills including formulas, data manipulation and analysis.

A Fantastic Opportunity: Assistant Management Accountant

This role supports the delivery of accurate, timely management accounting information to key stakeholders, enabling informed decision‑making across the business throughout the ED2 period. It is responsible for core month‑end activities, including balance sheet reconciliations and oversight of key financial processes, while also contributing to the wider management accounting function.

The role also plays an active part in developing junior team members and supporting the smooth, effective running of finance operations.

The successful candidate must, at the start of employment have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.

For this role there is opportunity for agile working following completion of your probationary period.

What we’re looking for

We welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who meet the following criteria:

• Part‑qualified accountant - or suitably experienced, ideally within a fast‑paced management accounts environment.
• Analytical capability - interpreting variances, identifying underlying trends, and reconciling data between systems. Assisting with analytical reviews and control processes within the fixed asset area.
• Process management experience - including devising, improving, and assuring reporting processes with a proven record of delivering process improvements.
• Month‑end delivery experience - working under pressure to meet challenging deadlines.
• Advanced Excel proficiency - including high‑level use of formulas, data manipulation and analysis tools.
• SAP experience
