We are now recruiting for an Assistant Management Accountant to join us at our bright, modern office in Leyland (Lancashire).
In this role, you’ll be responsible for producing accurate monthly management accounts and supporting the delivery of detailed forecasts and monthly variance analysis. You’ll also prepare additional reports as required and support schedules for quarterly reporting and the year end audit.
This is a hybrid role, working 3 days each week at our Leyland office and 2 days remotely.
Job Accountabilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis and insightful commentary against budget, forecast and prior year
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations & clearance of any reconciling items, with risks and opportunities flagged
- Control internal and external spend and ensure it is appropriately accounted in the nominal ledgers
- Check all Purchase Orders raised for correct coding
- Analysis of monthly costs & investigation of variances to budget/forecast
- Assist with preparation of annual budgets & monthly and quarterly forecasts
- Support the production of the annual statutory accounts
- Assist in completion of inter-company invoicing and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support statutory audits
To be considered for this role, we need you to have the following skills, experience and qualifications:
- Part-qualified (CIMA/ACCA) or part qualified by experience (QBE)
- Previous experience in a financial role, ideally with a travel industry background
- Good IT skills particularly MS Office (Excel to high standard of proficiency) and knowledge of accounting packages, ideally Sage
- Knowledge of accounting standards and financial control frameworks
- A strategic thinker, able to visualise opportunities and suggest improvements to business processes
- Proven ability to deliver high quality management information
- A numerate and analytical thinker, self-motivated and solution orientated
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Commercially astute with the ability to identify opportunities to improve profits and reduce costs
- Great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills - comfortable with communicating at all levels
- Able to work in a team environment and autonomously
