Job Description

The Assistant Management Accountant will provide vital support to the finance department, ensuring the maintenance of robust controls and financial integrity to support overall business objectives. This role encompasses a broad range of finance functions including management information, treasury activities, and maintaining the accuracy of the financial ledger.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage cash flow by posting relevant journals, analysing future cash requirements, and assisting with investment portfolio maintenance.
  • Assist in the delivery of interim and year-end statutory reporting, including consolidation activities.
  • Collaborate with external advisers, particularly auditors, to ensure reporting standards are met.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of management information, including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow reporting.
  • Support compliance activities by reviewing financial processes and procedures.
  • Provide technical accounting assistance for new business initiatives and ongoing operations.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving the financial control framework, including reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Help evaluate the effectiveness of financial controls and lead process improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Work closely with the finance team to foster a positive and focused working culture, supporting daily priorities and team objectives.

Skills and Experience

  • Part-qualified accountant preferred (AAT/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Experience in the insurance sector is advantageous but not essential.
