We are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant for a 12-month contract located in Derby based on a hybrid working model, 2-3 days per week on site.

Job Description - The Role

The FA&R team (Financial Accounting and Reporting), part of Finance Operations within the newly formed Global Business Services, provides transactional finance support for the company and select joint ventures. The team plays a key role in delivering period-end financial statements, statutory and external reporting, and ensuring compliance with government requirements.

An opportunity has arisen within the team. The workload follows a predictable cycle but requires flexibility and a customer-focused mindset. The ideal candidate will be motivated to standardise, simplify, automate, and improve processes.

This role suits a finance professional with reporting or audit experience seeking to join a global organisation, or someone with solid accounting experience looking for a stable role that supports work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver end-to-end financial reporting for assigned sectors or business units, including preparation of actuals and external reports, general ledger processing, account reconciliations, and adherence to strict reporting deadlines.
  • Ensure all financial activities comply with internal control frameworks, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements, maintaining a strong control environment.
  • Act as a key point of contact for external auditors by preparing and providing requested documentation, explanations, and support during audit cycles.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing reporting accuracy, process efficiency, and automation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS) and adapt to changes in financial systems, tools, and reporting processes.
Requirements
  • Part-Qualified or Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or relevant industry experience.
  • Prior financial reporting experience.
  • Finance background with the ability to understand and explain basic accounting principles/double entry bookkeeping.
  • Microsoft Excel experience.
  • Audit experience is beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of HFM / Hyperion software and SAP is beneficial.
  • Experience with Blackline reconciliation software is beneficial.
