Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a leading global insurance group to recruit a dynamic and driven Assistant Management Accountant. Based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, this is a permanent and varied accounting position offering future career development and progression. You will support the finance team in a range of duties from variance analysis, assisting in preparing financial statements, management account preparation to balance sheet processes and more. Offering remote/office hybrid working and a study package (AAT/ACCA/ACA/CIMA) with a competitive benefits package.

Your new role
Your key duties will involve posting journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany, deferred rent, and tax journals all to support the production of monthly management accounts. You will investigate month-end variance analysis and support the commentary files on various cost centres, prepare balance sheet reconciliations analysis, support the preparation of year-end statutory accounts, along with supporting the preparation of various tax files, including VAT, corporation tax and PSA. You will be involved in supporting the wider finance team in the completion of various group entity financial statements, along with information requests from the Global finance team and be involved in ad-hoc projects designated by senior management.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this progressive Assistant Management Accountant role, you will need experience in a similar position, ideally AAT qualified, looking to further study or part-qualified in ACA, ACCA, CIMA with strong MS Excel skills, and experience in a range of financial systems. You will have strong problem-solving skills, be comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environment, with key communication skills to build relationships at all levels both internally and externally. You will be keen to develop your accounting career and be used to managing workloads to deadlines. Ideally, you will have some knowledge or experience of preparing management or statutory accounts. Experience within the insurance or financial services sector would be advantageous but not essential.

This permanent Assistant Management Accountant role offers a salary between £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience plus study package. Full-time, 35 hours per week, with flexible working hours and remote/office hybrid working based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
