Job summary

Treatt Plc is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant in Bury St. Edmunds with hybrid working opportunities. You will support monthly management information, balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany accounting, while aiding the Accounts Payable team and external audit processes.

The role offers broad exposure across the Treatt Group's UK and US businesses, helping you grow in diverse accounting processes and commercial finance experience.

Qualifications

  • Part or full AAT qualification, or equivalent, or relevant accounting experience.
  • Intermediate to good Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Willingness to study towards chartered status in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly UK and central cost centre management information.
  • Support budget and quarterly reforecasting processes.
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support Group treasury activities and cash management.
  • Assist Accounts Payable with ad hoc requirements.
  • Support Group accounting and audits when required.
  • Liaise with Sales to support order processing and invoicing.

Job title: Assistant Management Accountant

Reporting to: Europe Management Accountant

Location: Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk (Hybrid working opportunities available)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

The Opportunity

The Assistant Management Accountant will play an important role in supporting the preparation of monthly management information, balance sheet reconciliations, cost centre reporting, intercompany accounting and treasury activities. The role will also provide support across a range of wider finance processes, including assisting the Accounts Payable team and supporting external audit requirements. Working as part of the wider Treatt Group finance function, this is a great opportunity to gain broad commercial finance experience and exposure to finance activities across both the Group’s UK and US businesses, while developing your skills and knowledge across a diverse range of accounting processes.

What you’ll be doing

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the monthly preparation of UK and central cost centre management information.
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of the annual budget and quarterly reforecasting process.
  • Maintaining accurate and clean balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Supporting Group treasury function, including cash and borrowings management, daily bank statement download, cashbook maintenance and reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Assisting Accounts Payable team with ad hoc requirements, such as supplier set up, verification and credit card reconciliations.
  • Supporting Group accounting team on an ad hoc basis in areas such as capital expenditure, tax, external financial reports and in the audit process when required.
  • Liaise with the Sales team to support sales order processing activities, including processing customer credit notes, consignment invoicing, and direct ship transactions.
  • Provide general support to the Europe and North America Finance teams on ad hoc matters, as required.
  • Support the team during the transition of current accounting practices to those of the Döhler Group.
What we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in accountancy and will either be part or fully AAT qualified (or equivalent), interested in studying towards chartered status in the future, or have relevant experience in a similar accounting role.

You will have intermediate to good Excel and Microsoft Office skills, alongside a proactive and motivated approach and a genuine enthusiasm for developing your skills and career. Experience using accounting ERP systems would be advantageous, although this is not essential, as we are looking for someone with the right attitude and willingness to learn and grow with the team.
