Job description

I am delighted to be supporting a growing organisation in Huddersfield on their search for an Assistant Management Accountant to join their team. You will be responsible for various general accounting duties to assist with producing month-end management accounts and upholding company financial controls. This involves ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policy and procedures in all accounting tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Month-End Support: Contribute to month-end close activities including accruals, prepayments, fixed asset register maintenance, payroll journal preparation, account reconciliations, and revenue recognition.
  • Cash Management: Prepare weekly cash flow reports for group submission. Reconcile bank accounts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure all payments are processed accurately and in compliance with company protocols.
  • Accounts Receivable: Generate and issue customer invoices promptly. Monitor and follow up on outstanding balances to ensure timely collection.
  • Accounts Payable: Process supplier invoices and coordinate payment runs to maintain strong supplier relationships and timely disbursements.
  • Corporate Credit Cards: Allocate credit card transactions accurately, collect and upload receipts, and ensure correct VAT treatment.
  • Expense Verification: Review and validate employee expense claims to ensure compliance with internal policies.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Assist in preparing and reviewing reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and completeness.
  • Audit Preparation: Support the year-end audit process by compiling and organizing required documentation.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Contribute to financial planning processes by assisting with budget and forecast preparation.
  • Project Work: Participate in ad hoc financial projects as directed by management.
  • Additional Duties: Undertake any other responsibilities aligned with your skills and experience as assigned by the head of finance.

Salary £30,000-£40,000- Depending upon experience plus study support to become a fully qualified accountant.
