We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Maitre d’ to join the team of our stunning private members’ club Annabel’s, 46 Berkeley Square, part of The Birley Clubs.
Annabel’s at 46 Berkeley Square covers 26,000 square feet and is home to five restaurants, bars, private dining rooms, and a cigar salon. A team of world-class Chefs, Sommeliers, and Mixologists have designed an outstanding array of menus, cocktail, and wine lists. Expertly sourced, seasonal ingredients, wines, and spirits are brought together using traditional and subversive techniques to create truly unique dining and drinking experiences.
As Assistant Maître d’, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of service are provided to our members and their guests, greeting and seating our customers, ensuring that all dietary requirements or special requests are communicated to the Managers, Head Waiter, and Chefs. You will also be required to liaise with the floor staff and Maître d’ team during service to ensure our customers receive the highest levels of service and take reservations, ensuring the restaurant booking procedures are followed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Greet and seat guests with warmth, professionalism, and efficiency
- Ensure guest preferences, dietary requirements, and special requests are communicated effectively to relevant staff
- Work closely with the Maître d’ and floor staff to maintain service excellence throughout the restaurant
- Assist in managing reservations and adhere to the club’s booking procedures
- Be present and proactive during service to anticipate guest needs and resolve any issues promptly
- Deliver a highly personalized service aligned with the standards of a private members’ club
- Maintain detailed knowledge of club offerings, including menus, events, and guest preferences
- Provide administrative support where required and uphold meticulous attention to detail in all communications
We are ideally looking for candidates who:
- Have previous experience in a similar Assistant Maître d’ or high-end restaurant receptionist role
- Possess strong experience in premium customer-facing environments
- Demonstrate genuine passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
- Are highly organized, motivated, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced setting
- Are confident and articulate communicators both in person and over the phone
- Show excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Have strong administrative abilities and a good command of written and spoken English
- Take pride in maintaining a refined and elegant presence on the restaurant floor
- Familiarity with SevenRooms or similar reservation systems (highly desirable)
