We are seeking an efficient and well-organized Assistant Librarian with strong administrative and IT skills, and excellent interpersonal qualities.
In November 2021, we opened the Woodward Building, featuring a state-of-the-art Learning Resource Centre, which includes our library, independent study zones, collaborative spaces, and the Learning Support department. The centre offers a comprehensive collection of printed and digital resources and a dedicated reading area, enhanced by the Accelerated Reader Scheme for younger students.
The role is from 12:00 pm to 5:30 pm during term time. The successful candidate will work alongside the full-time Librarian during afternoon sessions and oversee the Learning Resource Centre from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The library operates from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm.
Teachers can book the space for classes, and lower school English classes have dedicated library time. Sixth Form students use this facility for independent study. During breaks, the space serves as a quiet area for studying and independent projects.
The library uses the Accessit management system. Full training will be provided if needed.
Please complete the application form included in this pack carefully, paying attention to the Job Description and Person Specification. For queries, contact Mrs. Zoe Fazackerley at 01932 234920.
Send your completed application form and a supporting letter (no more than one A4 page) via email to the HR and Recruitment Officer by 12 noon, Friday 4th July 2025. Early applications are encouraged as we may interview or appoint before the deadline.
Short-listed candidates will be asked to provide proof of identity, address, and original certificates at the interview. Details of the interview will be sent to shortlisted candidates.
The successful applicant will be contacted by phone after the interview, and a contract will be issued once agreed. Unsuccessful candidates will be informed after a short delay, which is part of our standard process.
Halliford School is committed to safeguarding children and young people. All staff, volunteers, and visitors must share this commitment. The role is subject to enhanced DBS checks and employment references. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
