Job description

About the role:

By joining the University of Lancashire, you’ll become part of a thriving community of talent that’s united by a shared vision to transform the lives of our students and create prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Every colleague has a vital role to play in helping us achieve this vision

The School of Arts and Media is seeking to appoint an Assistant Lecturer in Game Art to contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate modules within the subject area. The role will involve supporting teaching in Game Art Pipelines, including modelling, texturing, asset workflows, optimisation and integration into game engines.

Working as part of the teaching team, you will act as module tutor for identified modules under the guidance of a module leader, develop teaching materials with support, contribute to module information packs, assignments and examination questions, assess student progress and provide feedback. You will also contribute to the planning of teaching programmes, attend relevant meetings and training, and support the ongoing improvement of the student experience.

About you:

You will have relevant experience in an academic environment or substantial experience within the games industry, alongside experience of game art pipelines, including asset production workflows and engine integration. You will also have expertise in tools such as Maya, Substance, ZBrush, or equivalent software used within game art production.

You will hold an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and will be able to demonstrate a flexible and innovative approach to teaching. Excellent presentation and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a successful record of working to deadlines.

You will be confident in using IT and relevant software packages to support teaching and learning, and will be able to contribute to an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and able to participate, while upholding lawful freedom of speech. You will also understand the University’s values and be able to work in line with expected professional behaviours.

It would be advantageous if you can demonstrate academic or professional development undertaken to support teaching activities, knowledge of emerging trends in game art pipelines, or a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.
