About

At Neptune, we believe home is where the heart-and the food-is. That's why The Provenist, our very own café, is part of our British interiors brand. Nestled right next door to our stunning Showroom and store on Walcot Street, in Bath; it is so much more than just a place to eat. It's where great food, good company, and warm hospitality come together to create a little haven of calm and comfort.

Now, we're looking for a new Assistant Leader & Lead Chef to join our Provenist team. Someone who shares our love for thoughtful food, exceptional service, and creating memorable experiences that feel just like home.

We do things properly and with care. Every detail matters-from the way a dish is plated, to how we greet our guests. We treat everyone as an individual, and take great pride in delivering a personal, genuine experience. And as our Assistant Leader & Lead Chef, you'll be at the heart of it all-guiding the team, setting the tone, and leading by example every day.

Your Key Areas Of Responsibility

  • Lead and inspire our café and kitchen teams, bringing energy and direction to daily operations while taking full ownership of the café's success, both front and back of house.
  • Maintain exceptional food quality by ensuring every dish is prepared and served to our exacting standards following recipes, portion guidelines, and presentation expectations every time.
  • Manage food costs effectively by following best practices in storage, portioning, and waste reduction ensuring proper use of ingredients, accurate recipe execution, and consistent temperature checks for safe refrigeration and storage.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, contributing ideas and suggestions to continually improve our food offering and overall café operations.
  • Take the lead on kitchen training, guiding the team through everything from ordering and stock management to food prep, equipment safety, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and quality.

You'll bring passion, positivity, and a natural ability to lead and inspire with proven experience in a similar role. With a background in a busy kitchen or hospitality setting, you know how to keep calm under pressure and deliver consistently high standards. You're also organised, proactive, and happiest when rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in alongside the team. You'll need the ability to work flexibility across weekdays and weekends-our café is open seven days a week.

Benefits We Can Offer You

  • Generous Holiday Allowance
  • Life Assurance
  • Company sick pay
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Generous new item and outlet discounts
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Competitive salary
  • Perkbox: Wellbeing Hub and Retail Discounts Portal
  • Your birthday day off
  • Day off if you become a Grandparent
  • Two paid volunteer days a year
  • A week off to celebrate a life event
  • Refer a friend scheme
  • Long service holiday allowance increase
  • Training workshops

We are a growing business that encourages our people to grow with us. Neptune's goal is to ensure we have a diverse and inclusive work environment, where all of our employees have equal access to opportunities and everyone's voices are heard.
