Assistant Lawyer - RTA, EL, PL Complex Injury

Description

This role is new to the market and offers an opportunity for a qualified lawyer to work with a leading Partner and their team on high-value motor, EL & PL work, involving varying injuries and claim values.

As our next Assistant Lawyer, you will work alongside the Partner and team to efficiently progress files. The role suits someone with experience in defendant large loss/multi-track personal injury work.

Key Responsibilities
  • TEAMWORK: Manage a caseload of complex injury claims, including high-value multi-track and catastrophic injuries such as brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, and fatal claims.
  • COMMUNICATION: Interact with insurer clients, handle queries, and provide updates throughout the process.
  • ANALYSIS: Conduct forensic analysis of extensive quantum evidence.
  • STRATEGY: Draft technical advice on claim handling, reserves, indemnity, liability, quantum, causation, and claims resolution for strategy discussions.
  • PROACTIVITY: Identify next steps, discuss with Lead Lawyer, and take appropriate actions.
  • TECHNICAL SKILLS: Interview witnesses, draft statements, liaise with parties, draft pleadings, instruct counsel, and attend conferences, mediations, court hearings, and trials.
  • TARGETS: Meet performance and quality standards, including chargeable hours.
  • DELEGATION: Assign tasks to Paralegals and support their development.
  • CASE MANAGEMENT: Keep case management systems updated with current information.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • Qualified solicitor, CILEX, or proven legal experience in similar roles, handling large loss, multi-track personal injury cases.
  • Experience with indemnity, liability, and quantum issues.
  • Background as Defendant or Claimant is acceptable.
  • Good understanding of case law, litigation practices, Court Rules, and procedures.
  • Committed to personal and team development.
  • Ability to provide excellent client service.
