Job summary

Aldwych Consulting Ltd is seeking a junior Monitoring Surveyor to join their delivery team in Nottingham, working on major infrastructure projects. You will install, monitor and report geotechnical data, building toward senior roles in civil engineering and rail.

The role is on-site, full-time, with a competitive salary and a focus on training and career progression within a supportive environment. Applicants with a relevant degree (BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or related) and a full UK

Qualifications

  • Interest in geotechnical monitoring, instrumentation or related engineering field.
  • Excellent written communication and ability to produce clear technical reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT skills.
  • Solid understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and best practices.
  • Full UK driving licence; willingness to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission and maintain geotechnical monitoring instrumentation.
  • Carry out monitoring surveys and ensure accurate data collection and interpretation.
  • Record, file and manage monitoring data; keep information up to date.
  • Attend client meetings to discuss results and provide updates.
  • Prepare method statements, risk assessments and installation reports.
  • Coordinate with clients, site teams and internal project staff.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure site compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Develop understanding of project costs, risk management and commercial awareness.

Are you a school-leaver or graduate looking to enter the world of Engineering Surveying, our client is looking to bring in a junior Monitoring Surveyor who is looking to build a long-term career in civil engineering and rail, working on major infrastructure projects.

Our client, a well-established surveying contractor, is looking to appoint a junior Monitoring Surveyor to join their delivery team on their infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in delivering complex and rewarding works, while progressing your career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, commission and maintain geotechnical monitoring instrumentation
  • Carry out monitoring surveys and ensure accurate collection, collation and interpretation of monitoring data.
  • Manage, record and file monitoring data, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Attend client meetings to discuss monitoring results and provide technical updates.
  • Prepare Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Activity Briefings and Installation Commissioning Reports.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, site management and internal project teams.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with health and safety procedures on site.
  • Support continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Develop an understanding of project costs, risk management and commercial awareness.
What We’re Looking For
  • An interest in geotechnical monitoring, instrumentation or a related engineering environment.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear technical reports.
  • Microsoft Excel and excellent overall IT skills.
  • Good understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and industry best practice.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
  • Previous experience in a geotechnical monitoring or instrumentation role is preferred but not essential.
  • BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering, Geology, Geography or a related discipline (or equivalent qualification).
