Job description

Join a unique and dynamic team at the UK Maritime Authority, where no two days are the same. As an Investigator, you'll support regulatory compliance investigations into significant breaches of maritime legislation, contributing to prosecutions where authorised. You'll help uphold the MCA's reputation and play a key role in improving safety and environmental standards in the maritime sector. From handling referrals to providing evidence in court, this is a varied and impactful role within a specialised national department.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  1. Assist in investigations by undertaking a wide range of tasks under the direction of supervisor/line manager.
  2. Assist in interviewing suspects under caution.
  3. Assist in the completion of criminal files of evidence by undertaking allocated tasks.
  4. Support the RCIT's Lead Investigators by obtaining statements of evidence for criminal investigations.
  5. Assist in the examination, preservation, and continuity of evidence and exhibits such as CCTV recovered during an investigation, in accordance with procedure.
