About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF SERENA'S VISION
Regeneration, Economy and Planning in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. Where innovative and open-minded people bring everything to the cause. Even expertise from surprising places.
Take Serena. She is an absolute force of nature at the heart of our Church Street regeneration. And she puts the residents first in everything. Serena's vision is clear. Regeneration isn't just about bricks and concrete. It's about communities. It's about the environment. It's about the lives of people and how they feel about where they call home. Serena is their advocate, making sure residents' voices aren't just heard, but drive the changes we're making. The future is safe in her hands.

The Role:

As an Assistant (Apprentice) Outdoor Instructor, you can make your own powerful contribution to people across Westminster. Based on a 56 acre site in the beautiful Surrey Hills, you'll work towards an Outdoor Activity Instructor level 3 apprenticeship whilst being trained to run outdoor activity sessions for groups visiting the centre.
Some of the young people you work with, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), may have never been to the countryside, so you'll get the incredible opportunity to help them explore the woods, get muddy and build friendships — helping them fulfill their potential and leave the centre with a new perspective on life.
From climbing and raft building to historical studies and archery, you'll grow and develop your skills under the supervision of some of the UK's best instructors. Your other responsibilities might include assisting the Grounds person with conservation and grounds management tasks, and attending training events, workshops and tutorials. This is a 'live-in' role, so you'll benefit from free accommodation and will take part in an evening working rota.
Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

Bringing a passion for education and the great outdoors, you'll be comfortable being active in all weather conditions. You might have a qualification in Environmental Science, Geography or Biology, or some experience working with children or young people, but this isn't a necessity.
Part of your day-to-day may include working in our artificial cave system or on our climbing tower, so you'll be comfortable with heights and in confined spaces. We'll give you STA pool responder training, but you'll also need to be a confident swimmer.
Most importantly, you'll be a true team player capable of taking a motivating, enthusiastic approach to everything you do. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from a supportive team, help young people fulfill their full potential, and set your future career on a brilliant trajectory.
