Job summary

Active Travel England is hiring for an Inspectorate role to help improve walking, wheeling and cycling infrastructure across England. You will inspect active travel schemes, promote high design standards, and identify good and poor practice while collaborating with local authorities and stakeholders.

The role offers the chance to influence policy, ensure inclusive design, and develop skills in stakeholder engagement, project delivery, and scheme assessment within the Civil Service framework.

Salary: £37,090 - A Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97%

Contract Type: Permanent – Flexible working, Full-time, Job share, Part-time

Join Active Travel England’s Inspectorate Team and help improve walking, wheeling and cycling infrastructure across England. Working with local authorities and stakeholders, you will support the inspection of active travel schemes, promote high design standards, and identify good and poor practice. This role offers the opportunity to influence policy, support inclusive and accessible design, and develop skills in stakeholder engagement, project delivery, scheme assessment and the broader workings of the Civil Service.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Working with a range of stakeholders
• Assisting in delivering the scheme inspection regime
• Ensuring that a range of needs are considered when inspecting and advising on scheme
• Helping support local and combined authorities
• Employer pension contribution of 28.97% of your salary.
