SSEN Transmission is seeking an Assistant Electrical Project Engineer for the HVDC team, based in Aberdeen or Inverness. The role supports project delivery within the Pathway to 2030, progressing toward a Project Engineer role while working on a net-zero aligned network.

The position involves electrical engineering reviews, site support during construction, technical issue resolution, and CDM compliance to deliver safe, buildable solutions in a UK construction context.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with UK experience or equivalent.
• HVDC/Power project experience preferred or transferable.
• Knowledge of industry standards and CDM Regulations; safe, buildable design.

Responsabilités

• Provide electrical engineering support to projects and review supplier documentation.
• Provide site support during construction, including supervision and issue resolution.
• Assist engineering team in resolving technical issues and governance.

Salary

£44,00 - £52,000 + car/cash allowance + annual bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role

As part of SSEN Transmission’s Pathway to 2030 programme of works and beyond, we are looking for an Assistant Electrical Project Engineer to join the HVDC team. This is an exciting opportunity to drive projects forward and bring fresh thinking to support delivery of a network for Net Zero, while developing experience and progressing toward a Project Engineer role.

You will

• Provide electrical engineering support to the project(s), undertaking reviews of relevant supplier documentation and engaging with the supplier(s) as required


• Provide site support during the construction phase, including site supervision, resolving technical queries, identifying non-conformances/quality issues and closing out actions.


• Support the electrical engineering team to resolve technical issues and undertake engineering governace


• Apply CDM Regulations in your role as a Designer, supporting safe and buildable solutions and develop scopes of work and detailed specifications.

You have

• A degree in Electrical Engineering (or an equivalent qualification) with relevant technical experience across client, consultant, or contractor environments in the UK construction industry.


• Previous Electrical Project Engineering experience - HVDC/Power specific preferred but other transferable experience considered


• Sound knowledge of industry standards, specifications, and CDM Regulations, with a proactive approach to safe, practical and buildable design.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and contribute effectively within project teams.


• Understanding of multi-disciplinary team working, with a willingness to learn from and collaborate across different engineering disciplines.
