Job description

Whittington Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Assistant HRBP to join their busy HR department.

Job Purpose:

As the Assistant HRBP, you will work closely with workforce colleagues to provide a proactive and quality HR Business Partnering service, acting as HRBP to a designated ICSU/Corporate division.

Job Summary:

The Assistant HRBP will be part of the workforce team and will be responsible for providing high-quality, comprehensive, customer-focused HR services to managers and staff within the Trust.

The postholder will:

  • Work closely with the management team of the designated ICSU/Corporate Function, including involvement in Monthly Board Meetings, Cost Improvement Programmes, Staff Survey plans, workforce planning, recruitment, and retention plans.
  • Support the implementation of the Trust’s Workforce Strategy in collaboration with the wider Workforce team to address workforce development issues.
  • Provide advice and support to managers on managing people issues throughout the employee lifecycle, including informal and formal stages.
  • Compile reports on workforce activity for the HRBP and ICSU/Corporate Function Management Teams, highlighting concerns and attending service management meetings.
  • Coach and upskill managers to proactively manage staff within Trust policies.
  • Assist managers in formulating solutions to HR issues within scope.
  • Support the training and development of managers in people management skills, knowledge of Trust policies & procedures, and HR best practices.
  • Collaborate with key decision-makers, senior managers, and Directors to support organizational change and development initiatives.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • CIPD qualification or equivalent, or educated to Masters level.
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Substantial HR experience, preferably within NHS or similar healthcare environments.
  • Experience managing employee relations issues in a unionized setting.
  • Experience working with senior managers and staff.
  • Experience in a customer-focused service environment.
  • Proficiency in word processing and database software.
  • Experience participating in and advising on performance management investigations and hearings.
  • Experience undertaking Job Evaluation within the NHS.
  • Experience providing advice on employee relations and recruitment issues.
