Job description

We are seeking an experienced Assistant HR Partner to support the HR Partner in the delivery of a high-quality, dedicated partnering service across the Faculty of Engineering.

You will be joining an established faculty-facing team with high ambitions to deliver a flexible, proactive, innovative, customer-focused, and excellent HR service. This is a varied role that enables you to use your extensive HR generalised skill set to advise, influence, and effectively handle complex people-related challenges.

If you are interested in joining a highly motivated team of talented and experienced HR professionals, you will need to be a pro-active self-starter with excellent communication and influencing skills. You will need to be able to confidently explain the rationale for advice and decisions, where appropriate, and be capable of handling difficult situations in a professional manner.

What you would be doing
  • Proactively working in partnership with managers and providing day-to-day advice/guidance and tactical solutions on a range of employee-related issues e.g., sickness absence, performance improvement, capability, probation.
  • Advising on complex issues of a personal nature and ensuring action is taken in accordance with Imperial’s existing HR policies, statutory and legislative requirements, with guidance from the HR Partner or specialist HR staff as necessary.
What we are looking for
  • HR professional with experience in either a generalist or specialist environment, including operational exposure to application of employment law, case management, and organisational change management.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and best practice approach to HR processes.
  • Ability to analyse problems, identify root causes, and develop a range of solutions.
  • Communication skills, able to quickly grasp and communicate clearly, concisely, sensitively, assertively, and diplomatically with the ability to deal with a diverse range of stakeholders.
