Job summary

Atherton High School seeks to appoint an Assistant Headteacher to join the school in January 2027. The role combines strategic leadership across key areas with a strong emphasis on school improvement and pupil outcomes.

You will work as part of the Senior Leadership Team to model high expectations, develop middle leaders, and ensure outstanding teaching and learning across the curriculum, with science knowledge valued.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status is required, science preferred.
• Experience in senior leadership and school improvement is desirable.
• Strong modelling of high teaching standards and expectations.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality strategic leadership across nominated areas of the School Improvement Plan; science background advantageous.
• Drive sustained school improvement and secure measurable pupil outcomes.
• Strengthen middle leadership through line management, coaching and professional development.
• Be an excellent classroom practitioner, modelling high expectations and high-quality teaching.
• Work with the Senior Leadership Team to promote values and visible leadership across school life.
