Assistant Headteacher – Pastoral Care & Student Wellbeing

As part of our continued commitment to student wellbeing, we are seeking a passionate and strategic leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Headteacher – Pastoral.

The Role

This is a key leadership position focused on the personal development, welfare, and behaviour of our students. You will lead on all aspects of pastoral provision, ensuring that every student feels safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and develop the school’s pastoral systems and structures.
  2. Oversee behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, and student welfare.
  3. Line manage Heads of Year and pastoral support staff.
  4. Promote a culture of inclusion, respect, and high expectations.
  5. Work closely with families, external agencies, and the wider community.
  6. Contribute to whole-school leadership and strategic planning.

About You
