Job summary

Oak Tree School is seeking an Assistant Headteacher to provide operational leadership and support the day‑to‑day running of the provision. You will work under the Headteacher and Deputy Heads, translating priorities into effective practice and leading systems that secure high standards in education, behaviour and pupil wellbeing.

You will lead on safeguarding, attendance and staffing, line manage teams, and contribute to school improvement, assemblies and events.

Qualifications

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status or a recognised teaching qualification.
• Minimum of five years' successful teaching experience in a school setting.
• Experience across pastoral and academic contexts in special schools, AP/units or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily operation of the school, including staffing deployment and policy implementation.
• Oversee operational systems for behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and health and safety.
• Line manage colleagues, support recruitment, induction and professional development.
• Monitor safeguarding, attendance and compliance systems; contribute to inspections.
