Assistant Headteacher - Behaviour and Attitudes

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Headteacher - Behaviour and Attitudes to join New Barn School, part of Acorn Education, located in Newbury, Berkshire. This role offers a salary of up to £53,000 per annum, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on a permanent, term-time-only contract. UK applicants only.

About the Role: As Assistant Headteacher, you will lead initiatives to promote high standards of student conduct and well-being, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team. Your responsibilities include developing behaviour management strategies, overseeing welfare, family support, and SENCO teams, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement behaviour management systems promoting positive behaviour and respect.
  • Monitor and improve attendance and student well-being in collaboration with the Family Support Team.
  • Manage Welfare, Family Support, and SENCO Teams.
  • Act as a Designated Deputy Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
  • Coordinate with the Clinical Team to support students with complex needs.
  • Utilize data to identify trends and improve strategies.
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence around the school.
  • Contribute to policy development and review.
  • Lead initiatives to foster resilience and social-emotional learning.
