We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Headteacher to join our team at Pear Tree High School.

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled professional for the role of Assistant Headteacher, which will also include responsibilities as English Lead.

This is a permanent, full-time leadership role starting September 2025, attracting a salary on the leadership scale, points L4-8, with a range of £53,602 - £59,167.

Main purpose of the job:

The post holder’s key responsibilities will include:

  • Being a proactive member of the Senior Leadership Team and supporting the Headteacher in securing the best educational provision and outcomes for students.
  • Supporting school improvement efforts, focusing on raising standards of teaching, learning, student achievement, attendance, behaviour, and appearance.
  • Taking full responsibility for leading and managing significant aspects of the school under the Headteacher’s overall direction.
  • Exhibiting outstanding classroom practice, maintaining high subject expertise, and staying informed on current teaching and learning developments.
  • Supporting the development of a broad, structured, and coherent educational programme that clearly establishes the knowledge, skills, and values to be taught.
  • Contributing to school improvement by effectively communicating and implementing strategies that deliver sustained progress over time.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and creative English practitioner passionate about English/Literacy, with practical knowledge of diverse teaching strategies tailored for pupils with SEND.

The candidate should have a thorough understanding of the National Curriculum and the ability to adapt and differentiate it to meet the needs of SEND learners.

This role requires outstanding classroom practice, creativity, initiative, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to professional development. Leadership in English is essential.
