Job description

£57,831 - £63,815 + Excellent benefits

Our Assistant Head Teachers are fulfilled by making even the smallest positive changes in our young people. We celebrate these 'huge small victories'—small on the surface but impactful in making a big difference.

Get out what you put in

You will work with children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Alongside the Head Teacher, you'll set the school's vision, ensuring the right people and plans are in place for our young people to leave feeling proud of their achievements. Resilience and dedication are essential, but the rewarding 'huge small victories' will make it worthwhile.

While the journey can be challenging, the positive progress will be rewarding. As an Assistant Head Teacher at Witherslack Group, you'll receive support from the management team and specialists. Your colleagues are highly skilled, resources are excellent, and we will support your career development every step of the way.

One of the best environments in SEND

Avon Park School's transformational impact is evident to parents, carers, and professionals. Its strong ethos of 'high expectations and aspirations for every child' has earned an Outstanding rating by Ofsted.

All staff, including teaching, pastoral, and therapy teams, collaborate to ensure pupils develop academically, emotionally, and personally. This whole-school approach helps pupils with ADHD, ASD, Asperger's, or SEMH grow into confident, capable young people eager to succeed.

What we do for you

We value your hard work and commitment, offering a competitive salary and benefits package. You will have opportunities to make a real difference, including:

  • Training: Full induction and on-the-job training

  • Holidays: Full school holidays off

  • Progression: Many head teachers have been promoted from within our group

  • Flexible benefits: Customize benefits like life insurance (see our benefits here)

  • Facilities: Modern, well-resourced school environments

  • Referral bonus: Earn £1,000 for each successful colleague referral
