Job summary

Aspris is seeking an outstanding leader to join Sedgemoor Manor School to strengthen the leadership team and support the inclusion and personal development of students with SEND. You will drive strategies in behaviour, safeguarding and SENDCo responsibilities, working collaboratively with staff, parents and external agencies to secure excellent outcomes.

The role requires a good honours degree, PGCE or equivalent, and QTS, with strong leadership experience and exceptional communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Honours degree in a related subject.
  • PGCE or equivalent in secondary or primary education.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required/essential.
  • Ability to deliver elements of key curriculum areas.
  • Successful experience teaching at KS2–KS4.
  • Leadership and management experience.
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation, policies and best practices.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff, parents/carers, external agencies and students.
  • Excellent communication skills and relationships with children and young people.
  • Excellent organisational skills with multiple priorities management.

Responsibilities

  • Build and strengthen the school leadership team and its capacity.
  • Cover areas such as behaviour and engagement, safeguarding, personal development, and SENDCo duties.
  • Lead initiatives to support inclusive practices and personal development across the school.
  • Collaborate with staff, parents and external agencies to support learners.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.

Start date: Ideally September 26 but will consider a January 27 start.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting inclusive practices and personal development across the school and ensuring that all learners have access to high-quality education tailored to their individual needs.

About the school:

Sedgemoor Manor School is very different to most schools, set in a calm idyllic site with several buildings for our small teaching groups (maximum 6 pupils) to engage and learn. We are almost at capacity with 100 places for pupils in year 3 through to sixth form. Sedgemoor Manor provides education for autistic children and young people, who are supported in working towards overcoming various challenges. The staff, curriculum, site and experiences here enable them to thrive and achieve excellent accreditation outcomes. Many pupils go onto college and university.

Person Specification:
  • Good quality Honours degree in a related subject
  • PGCE or equivalent in secondary or primary education
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Ability to deliver elements of key curriculum areas
  • Successful experience teaching the relevant subject at Key Stage 2, 3 or 4
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, external agencies, and students.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent relationships with children and young people
  • Organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
