Assistant Head of Year - Secondary School - Oldham

2 Roles Available | Immediate Start | Full-Time | Long-Term to Permanent Opportunity

Are you passionate about supporting young people and creating a positive, inclusive school environment? Aspire People is working in partnership with a large, successful Multi-Academy Trust to recruit 2 Assistant Heads of Year to join a thriving secondary school in Oldham.

These are full-time, long-term roles with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidates. You'll work closely with pastoral and teaching teams to support pupils' behaviour, well-being, and academic progress, making a meaningful difference in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the pastoral team to foster a nurturing and supportive learning environment
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with pupils to engage and motivate them
  • Help remove barriers to learning, particularly for students with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
  • Use school systems to promote good behaviour, manage incidents, and improve attendance
  • Work with pupils on their action plans, supporting them to achieve personal and academic goals
  • Act as a key point of contact for pupils, parents, and staff, supporting consistent communication
What We're Looking For:
  • A UK degree - Psychology or a related field is highly desirable
  • Previous experience in behaviour management within a school or educational setting
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and helping them succeed
  • A DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
  • The ability to provide references covering the past 2 years
  • Resilience, empathy, and a proactive attitude
