Assistant Head of Year - Secondary School - Failsworth

Start: ASAP | Ongoing into the 2025 Academic Year

Pay: Approx. £550 per week


Aspire People is proud to be working in close partnership with a large, well-respected, and well-facilitated secondary school in the Failsworth area. Together, we are seeking to appoint a graduate-level Assistant Head of Year to join their dedicated pastoral team as soon as possible.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in pastoral support or SEN (Special Educational Needs) within UK secondary schools. The role will continue into the next academic year, offering both continuity and the chance to make a real impact on pupils' lives.


The Role:

As Assistant Head of Year, you will work closely with the Head of Year to provide high-quality pastoral care and behaviour management across a designated year group. You will play a key role in supporting students' wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and engagement with school life.


Key Responsibilities:

- Supporting students with social, emotional, behavioural, and SEN needs
- Monitoring attendance and implementing interventions
- Liaising with parents, external agencies, and teaching staff
- Contributing to the school's inclusive and positive environment
- Assisting with pastoral duties such as safeguarding, one-to-one support, and mentoring

Requirements:

- Degree-level qualification (desirable)
- Proven experience supporting pupils in a UK secondary school, either in a pastoral or SEN capacity (essential)
- Strong interpersonal skills and a calm, consistent approach
- A genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people
